Chuck Wilbert (right), commander of the Kane Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 1132, presents a $1,000 donation for the Staff Sgt. Kenneth R. VanGiesen Patriot Award. Accepting the donation is Frank Sirianni (left), president of the Kane Lions Club and committee chairman for the Patriot Award. The award, initiated by the Lions Club, goes to graduating Kane High seniors who enlist in the U.S. military. The award honors VanGiesen, a Kane native who was killed in Afghanistan last year while serving with the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. Individuals and businesses are urged to make donations to the Staff Sgt. Kenneth VanGiesen Patriot Award. To make a donation, including memorials, contact Sirianni at 837-7363 or any member of the Kane Lions Club.
