Dorscella Ryan-Mossing

Dorscella “Dottie” Ryan-Mossing, 83, of Swanton, Ohio, and formerly of Greensburg and Mt. Jewett, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at Florida Hospital in DeLand, Fla.
Born March 16, 1928, in Kane, she was a daughter of the late Clifford and Lucille Larson Martinson.
A graduate of Hazel Hurst High School in 1945, she graduated from Buffalo Children’s Hospital as an R.N. and worked at various nursing positions, retiring as Director of the American Red Cross of Westmoreland County. 
In 1951 she married Robert Ryan. Dottie and her husband, Bob, raised their family in Greensburg where they settled in 1962. After their retirement, in 1984, they moved to Mt. Jewett. Bob proceeded her in death in 1988. Dottie remained in Mt. Jewett until 2000 when she relocated to Swanton with her second husband, Larry Mossing.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mt. Jewett and Holy Trinity parish in Swanton. She belonged to the Altar Rosary Society at both churches.  Additionally, she served on the church council in Mt. Jewett and belonged to the Catholic War Veterans Auxiliary.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, Larry Mossing, are four children, Kent Ryan in Huntsville, Ala., Steven (Sue) Ryan in Antioch, Ill., Joseph (Shegemi) Ryan in Mexico, N.Y. and Mary (Scott) Smith in Mt. Jewett; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Joyce (Vic) Peterson of Lantz Corners and Shirley West of Illinois.
Her first husband, Robert Ryan and her parents preceded her in death.
Friends will be received on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. in Mt. Jewett.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, with the Rev. Vincent P. Cieslewicz, Jr., pastor, officiating.  Burial will be at McKean Memorial Park.
