Eagles Club has Thanksgiving for those in need

Kane area residents who have no place to go for Thanksgiving dinner are again invited to dine for free at the Eagles Club at Chase and Bayard streets in Kane.Elderly and other persons confined to their homes also can contact the Eagles for "home delivery" of the dinners. Call 837-9422."We like helping people," Barb Gadley-Cheeks said in commenting on the annual Eagles' Thanksgiving dinner. "It's a very warm feeling when the people show up."Persons who are alone or are in need can dine at the Eagles Club between 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday."If they need transportation to the club, we provide it," Gadley-Cheeks said.Volunteers deliver turkey dinners to senior citizens and other shut-ins before the meals are served at the club.Gadley-Cheeks said about 25 volunteers will spend Thanksgiving delivering meals or serving dinners at the club. Some volunteers are not even members of the Eagles, she said."So many wonderful people-- members, non-members and businesses-- have donated time and money to make our Thanksgiving dinner a huge success," Gadley-Cheeks said.
