Area fire departments were dispatched to a structure fire Tuesday afternoon at 3:07 p.m. at 2145 Old Lamont Road in Jones Township.
Kane responded with Engine 56 and 57 and Rescue truck 51.
Tim Wile, chief of the Kane Volunteer Fire Department, identified the owners as Alan and Sheryl Pence.
Firefighters from Highland Township, Mt. Jewett, Sheffield, Ridgway, Ludlow, Johnsonburg and Wilcox, along with Kane, responded to the scene where fire had totally engulfed the building. A water supply had to be established before they could start to fight the fire and high winds made the fire difficult to get under control.
Alan Pence had reportedly recently remodeled the entire house with only two bedrooms upstairs left to be done.
The cause of the fire was undetermined at press time.
Emergency Ambulance also responded but no injuries were reported.
Officials estimate that it took firefighters about an hour to put out the fire and about two hours to have the emergency under control. The building and contents are reportedly “a total loss.”
State Police Fire Marshal Greg Agosti was called in to investigate and determine the cause of the fire.
