George E. Matis

George E. Matis, 57, of 785 Wetmore Road, passed away suddenly on Monday, April 9, 2012, at Kane Community Hospital.
Born Sept. 6, 1954, in Kane, he was a son of the late George and Leverna Larson Matis.
George was a dairy farmer for many years and sold  milk to several different producers in the area. He was also head sawyer for Kane Hardwood where he had been employed for 35 years.
Surviving are his longtime companion, Jane Bostjancic; 18 cousins, Karen Goodsell, Milena Danneker, Vinny Marold, Shirley Dodge, Jim Wood, Georgie Hulings, John Joel Matis, Marsha Flowers, Mark Matis, Linda Fiore, Debra Pashkow, Rosemary Swanson, Elizabeth Gabriel, Ron Mattis, Ziva Danneker, Kyra Danneker, Russell Marold, Joseph Marold; and two aunts, Marion Larson and Mary Mattis.
He also leaves behind his dogs, Bo and Sophie.
Family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. with a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. with the Rev. Marty Reynolds officiating.
