Gertrude E. Sanders

Gertrude E. Sanders, 102, formerly of 220 Haines St. in Kane, died Wednesday evening, July 6, 2011, at Lake Placid Health Care Center in Lake Placid, Fla.
Born Sept. 10, 1908, in DuBois, she was the daughter of David and Jennie Heberling Smyers. In 1926 in DuBois, she married Raymond Cochran, who preceded her in death. In 1962 in Kane, she married George W. Sanders, who died in 1983.
Mrs. Sanders had worked at the former Broadbent Stitler department store in Kane. She was a member of the Kane Free Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and was the church pianist; belonged to the Kane Senior Center and was a volunteer at The Lutheran Home at Kane.
She is survived by a daughter, Margaret Lee of Lake Placid, three grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death, besides her husbands and parents, are a son, Raymond Cochran, Jr.; a sister, Elizabeth Hanner; and a grandson.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Monday at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc. in Kane, at which time a service will be held there with the rev. Milton L. Jones, pastor of the Kane Free Methodist Church, officiating.  Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Kane.
