Helen I. Micheau, 103, formerly of 416 Welsh St., died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010, at the Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born May 27, 1907, In Knightstown, Ind., she was a daughter of Clair and Edna Amsler Shreffler.Â She was married to Lewis Micheau who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Micheau, a graduate of Kane High School Class of 1924,Â was a partner with her husband in Micheau Painting and Decoration.Â She also was self-employed as a seamstress.Â For over 20 years, she worked for Sakura Silk Mills and from 1969-1976, she worked for W.T. Grant in Warren as a department manager, specializing in making and installing draperies until the store closed.Â Prior to that, she worked for Levinsons and Morrison in Warren.
She attended the First United Methodist Church where she served as church organist for a period of time.Â She loved music andÂ enjoyed sports, gardening and helping her family and friends.
Surviving are seven grandchildren, Don (Kathy) Micheau of Kane, Beverly (Dennis) Drost of Kane, Linda Jacobus of Conneaut, Ohio, Dennis Fiscus of Kane, Rod (Lori) Fiscus of Kane, Todd Dixon of Norfolk, Va. and Steve Shembeda of Etters, Pa.; a sister, Marion McDaniel of Richardson, Texas; and several great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Rosalie Micheau, two daughters, Janice ShembedaÂ and daughter and son-in-law, Delores and Lloyd Fiscus;Â a brother, Herman Shreffler; two sisters, Dorothy Hoskinson and Betty Glatt; and an infant grandson, Brian Fiscus.
Friends will be received Friday from 10-11 a.m. at the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. where a funeral service will follow with The Rev. William R. LaVelle Jr., pastor of the United Methodist Church, officiating.Â Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
