Helen Kerekanich Stromberg, 76, of Sarasota, Fla., passed away Aug. 5, 2011.
Helen was born in Kane on May 26, 1935 to the late Charles (Mary) Kerekanich. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold "Curley" Stromberg.
Helen is survived by her son Mark (Aimee) Stromberg and two grandchildren, Emma and Sophia of San Antonio, Texas. She leaves behind two brothers, George (Emmaleen) Kerekanich of Columbia, S.C. and Mike (Annette) Kerekanich of Vermillion, Ohio; sisters, Ann (George) Dudick of Painted Post, N.Y., Pauline Kerekanich of Raleigh, N.C., and Patricia (Edward) Criswell of Lockport, N.Y.; her stepdaughters, Joanne Nagle of Frackville, Sandy Matte of Palm Springs, Calif. and Susan Green of Killeen, Texas.
Helen was predeceased by her brothers, John, Charles and Robert Kerekanich, and sister Mary Pastelyak.
Helen's greatest joy was her two grandchildren who brought much love and laughter into her life. Helen worked as an LPN and private care nurse in Sarasota for many years. After retiring from nursing, she began working at the Surf Rider Motel, which allowed her the opportunity to spend her days on the beach, especially watching the beautiful sunsets, which she loved.
