Helen Swanson

Helen Swanson, 88, of 2 Greeves St., died Tuesday morning, May 17, 2011 at the Lutheran Home at Kane, where she had recently resided.
Born Nov. 24, 1922 in Washington D.C., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Charlotte Scheuch Klopfer.
On July 21, 1945 she married Robert Swanson, who preceded her in death. Prior to her retirement in 1984 Mrs. Swanson taught school at the Prince George County Public School.
She was a member of Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kane, where she was active in the hand bell choir and also Moriah Lutheran Church in Ludlow. She also was a member of the Red Hats and the Ex-POWs.
Surviving relatives include one son Robert (Tonette) Swanson of Dunkirk, Md.; three grandchildren, Robert Swanson III, Eric and David Swanson; five great-grandchildren, Michael and William Staubb and Cannon, Channing and Isabella Swanson; and five nieces and nephews, George, John and Steve Kulka, Ann Jessee and JoAnn Wilson.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Gloria Ann Swanson.
Friends will be received on Saturday (May 21) from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William Waterman, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church or the Lutheran Home at Kane.
