Hoag places third at golf championship

October 1, 2012

Photo by Becky Polaski – Kane's Kyla Hoag placed third in Monday's District 9-AA girls' golf championship at Pinecrest Country Club in Brookville. With her third-place finish, Hoag qualifies for the PIAA Class-AA Western Regional set for Oct. 15 at Tom's Run Country Club in Blairsville.

BROOKVILLE – For the second year in a row, Elk County Catholic High School's Kristy Hanes finished in the runner-up spot among the Class AA golfers in the District 9 Girls' Golf Championship, three strokes behind the leader.
The scenario was unfortunately a familiar one for Hanes, who tied for second last year with Union's Larissa Roberts while coming in three strokes behind Redbank Valley's Samantha Dinger.
In this year's event, which was held at Pinecrest Country Club in Brookville, Hanes carded an 88 on the day, while Keystone's Amber Hess shot an 85 to take the title.
