James E. Brinkley

James E. Brinkley, 88, a resident of The Lutheran Home at Kane, formerly of Smithfield Avenue, Kane, died early Friday morning, June 1, 2012 at the Kane Community Hospital.
Born May 16, 1924 in Sigel, he was the son of Conrad and Mary Cyphert Brinkley. On May 10, 1952 in Ridgway, he married Donna M. Nearing, who died in 2009.
Mr. Brinkley was Army sergeant in the 5th infantry during WWII, having served three years in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre, three years in Italy, and also in Okinawa.  Later, he worked at Stackpole in Kane for 28 years, retiring in 1986.
He attended the First Church of God in Kane and was an avid gardener.
Surviving are two sons, Melvin (Sandy) Brinkley and Mark Brinkley, both of Kane; two grandsons, Jeremy and Parker Brinkley of Kane, and great grandchildren Logan, Kelsie, Ava and Ethan Brinkley. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his wife and parents, by six sisters and six brothers.
Friends may call at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc. in Kane from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Monday, at which time a service will be held there with the rev. David Pflieger, chaplain of The Lutheran Home at Kane, officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery.
