John J. Yasurek

John J. Yasurek, 94, of 5573 Highland Rd., died Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at the Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born Nov. 8, 1916, in Sheffield, he was a son of the late Andrew and Katherine Yasurek. On Nov. 24, 1945, he married Emma Knapp who survives.
Mr. Yasurek served with the Navy during WW II. 
Before his retirement, he was employed by Motion Control in Ridgway. He was a member of St. Callistus Catholic Church.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Emma Yasurek, are 11 children, Elaine Bliss, Patricia Hillman, Lisa Springer, Joan Woods, Richard Yasurek and Thomas Yasurek, all of Kane, and Katherine Jerman of Sheffield, Daniel Yasurek of Wilcox, John Yasurek Jr. of Ludlow, Ronald Yasurek of Milton, Fla. and Steven Yasurek of DeYoung; and two sisters, Katherine Cappello of Kane and Mary Ponteriou of Erie. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Yasurek and Tony Yasurek; and three sisters, Anne Cary, Veronica Gelatko and Rose Hesso.
Friends will be received in the gathering space at St. Callistus Church on Friday from 10-11 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. with The Rev. Philip Pinczewski, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Callistus Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
