June M. Smith, 94, of 3193 Rte. 6, Kane, passed away Friday, July 13, 2012, at the Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born June 2, 1918, in Johnsonburg, she was a daughter of Alfred and Catherine "Kate" Sweeney Hinchliffe.Â On Sept. 24, 1938, in Johnsonburg, she married James S. Smith who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Smith was a member of St. Callistus Catholic Church and a former member of St. Anne's Church in Wilcox and Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg.Â She also was a former member of the C.D. of A. in both Wilcox and Johnsonburg.
June was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who spent many wonderful years caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She selflessly gave of her time and patience in making all ofÂ their lives happier and easier.
Surviving are a daughter, Joyce (Bob) Arnold of Kane; two granddaughters, Jacklyn (Jeff) Pusateri of Kane and Jill (Kevin) Burk of Latrobe; two great-granddaughters, Allison Pusateri of Edinburgh, Scotland and Brooke Burke of Latrobe; two great-grandsons, Jacob Pusateri of Buffalo, N.Y. and Jesse Burk of Latrobe; a sister, Helen (Dave) Hoy of St. Marys; three nieces, Kathy (Jim) McKnight Herzing and Betsy (John) Hoy Healy, both of St. Marys, and Rosemary Zimmer; and three nephews, Alan Hinchliffe, Jack Hinchliffe and Butch Hinchliffe.
She was preceded in death, besides her parents and husband, by two sisters, Alice McKnightÂ and Shirley Tuttle; two brothers, Mac Hinchliffe and Murph Hinchliffe; two brothers-in-law, Lemon McKnight and Phil Tuttle; and two sisters-in-law, Jane Hinchliffe and Mariam Hinchliffe;
Friends and family will be received on Monday from 9-10:45 a.m. in the gathering space at St. Callistus Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John Barwin officiating.Â Burial will be at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Johnsonburg.
Memorial donations may be made to the Lutheran Home at Kane, 100 High Point Drive, Kane, PA 16735; St. Callistus Catholic Church, 342 Chase St., Kane, PA; or to a charity of choice.
