Kane boys soccer team has rough start to season
It was a tale of two halves in Tuesday’s season opener for the Kane Wolves boys soccer team. Coach Ernie Chamberlain’s young team came out inspired, and jumped out to an early 1-0 lead. The visiting Smethport Hubbers answered with one of their own in the first half, but dominated the second half on their way to an 8-1 win. Dylan Mattis scored for the Wolves less than two minutes into the game. The sophomore knocked a shot past the Hubber goalie 1:57 into the contest. Kane played a solid first half, keeping Smethport on their heels and limiting the touches of Smethport’s top player, Dario Caminite. The Hubbers started getting some shots on goal as the game progressed. Wolves’ goalie Michael Butterfield had six saves in the first half, and two more Smethport shots clanged off of the iron, but Caminite snuck one past the Kane goalie with at the 16:11 mark to tie the game at 1-1.
