Websites on the internet play a major role in the marketing of businesses in today's "high tech" world.
Just ask Jeff Andrulonis, who spoke Friday at a Kane Chamber of Commerce breakfast forum at the Kane Manor on Clay Street.
"Every business with a website has the potential to be found," Andrulonis said. "People are now researching on-line before making a buying decision. More than half of all consumers say their internet searches are important in their decision-making process."
Andrulonis is the president and chief executive officer of the Colonial Radio Group based in Olean, N.Y. The company has eight FM radio signals-- including WVTT 103.9 in Kane. Andrulonis, a past president of the Kane Chamber, said his company also has a television station.
Andrulonis was linked with the former WLMI radio station in Kane. These call letters now are in use in Michigan, he said.
In his remarks, Andrulonis said "mass media today isn't what mass media was" due to the advent of the internet and the various internet social networks such as Facebook.
He said many businesses have Facebook accounts and invite public comments on their products or services.
He said "other consumers" often are the "most creditable source" of information for shoppers.
Andrulonis advised the Chamber members to develop a website that "uses content your customers need."
"Use video to easily share content," he said. He believes businesses should have website "version" that could be viewed by consumers on their hand-held mobile phones.
"Make sure you have content forms that allow you to capture information about the people who visit your site," Andrulonis said. "The bottom line is that you have to make it easy for your potential customers to find the information they need to make the decision to buy from you."
Andrulonis said he is a proponent of "regionalization" and believes Kane area businesses should "reach out to grow your customer base."
