Kane Borough Police Chief Brian Hillard is the asking the public to help the police department in the "constant fight against illegal drugs and related activity."
Hillard said the police department "has been made aware of suspicious activity in various locations in and around Kane." He said the police are asking "private citizens, civic groups and community 'watches'" for assistance in apprehending the persons involved in illegal drug activity.
"If you see suspicious activity, please contact the Kane Police Department or the McKean County Drug Task Force," Hillard said in a statement presented at a meeting of the Kane Borough Council earlier this week.
To contact police:
*Call the Kane Police Department at 837-6440. The chief is at extension 1.
*Call the McKean County Drug Task Force Tip Line at 887-3232.
*Contact the State Police in person at the Kane station on Route 219 near Lantz Corners.
According to Hillard, citizens should report the following suspicious activity:
*Frequent vehicle or foot traffic at a residence for short periods of time.
*Individuals frequently approaching vehicles.
*Strong chemical or smoky odors coming from homes or vehicles.
*Large amounts of cold medicine packs, batteries, solvents or coffee filters with red stains.
Hillard said persons who observe suspected drug activity in their neighborhood should follow these procedures:
*Note information on the vehicles such as make, model, color, license plate number and any known occupants.
*Note the dates and times of the suspected drug activity "especially if it recurring on a regular basis."

You need to stop harassing people and do your jobs instead of focusing on your mythical "War on Drugs".

Do you understand what "frequent" means? Because having buddies over to watch a game, would not be frequent vehicle or foot traffic, unless theyre coming over for two-three games a day in which case something else would obviously be going on, get it. Why dont you quit criticizing and actually help our town out a bit?
Wow. Just wow.

Am I the only one who thinks this will lead to many, many wastes of police resources? We're being asked to report "frequent vehicle or foot traffic at a residence for short periods of time." What does that even mean? It's far too vague to lead to any actual arrests. What if I'm having some buddies over to watch television or something? That will lead to frequent vehicle and foot traffic.
