A Kane man is charged with a burglary at his grandmother's apartment at Central Towers at 130 Greeves St. in the borough.
John D. Morrison, 28, of 7031 Route 6, Kane, also is charged with criminal trespass and unlawful taking or disposition. He is scheduled for arraignment Wednesday before Kane District Court Judge Dave Engman in the case that includes two felony charges.
Kane Borough Police Officer Derrick Snyder filed the charges.
According to court documents, Morrison is accused of entering the apartment of Karen Cook while she was out-of-town and stealing between $20 and $25 in cash from her kitchen table.
Cook, who is listed in court records as the defendant's grandmother, told police that she kept an apartment key "hidden" in her hallway "in case of emergencies." A witness reportedly saw Morrison "remove the hidden key and enter the apartment," court documents show.
Two witnesses told police they saw Morrison "enter the building" while his grandmother was gone, court documents indicate.
