Kane High School students pose with the shed they built during carpentry class at the Vern Johnson Vo-Ag Center at the school. The students, all seniors, include, left to right: Sean Welch, Dave Swanson, Marty Niklas, Dan Hanson, Martin Ross, Del Cleer, Josh Ishman and Mike Shrubb. Brandon Kowatch was not present when the photo was taken. Jack Detrick is the instructor for the class, which each year builds a shed using skills learned in the school carpentry program. The 8x12-foot wooden shed sits on treated 4x4 skids. The barn-style shed, which has 7 ½ feet of headroom, has double doors at one end and a mandoor at the opposite end. The solid poplar shed is painted and is pre-wired for electrical connections. The school district will be seeking bids to sell the shed. The minimum bid is $1,000. For more information, contact the high school.
