Lois Sluga

 Lois Sluga, 85, of 256 Lindholm Rd., passed away Saturday afternoon, Dec. 10, 2011, at her residence.
Born Nov. 21, 1926, in Mt. Jewett, she was a daughter of Algot and Emma Smith Paulson. On Jan. 3, 1946, in Mt. Jewett, she married Edgar Sluga who survives.
Mrs. Sluga was employed by Stackpole Carbon Company, from which she retired, and was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Mt. Jewett American Legion Auxiliary. She had been a board member and volunteer for many years at the Mt. Jewett Memorial Library and also was a volunteer with the Mt. Jewett Swedish Festival for many years.
She was an avid reader and had a very special relationship with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her frequent lunch gang will miss her.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a daughter, M. Dolores Sluga of Asheville, N.C.; three sons, Craig (Anne) Sluga of North East, James (Lynn) Sluga and Kevin Sluga, all of Mt. Jewett; 14 grandchildren, Lowell, Kim, Michelle, Jason, Adam, Felicity, Holly, Matthew, Justin, Rachel, Tiffany, Emily, Katy and Isaac; 22 great-grandchildren; a brother, Art (Alice) Paulson of Mt. Jewett; and a sister-in-law, Doris Paulson, formerly of Mt. Jewett.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, M. Diane Sluga; one brother, Donald F. Paulson; and one sister, Helen L. Anderson.
Friends will be received Tuesday (today) from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. in Mt. Jewett where a vigil service will be held at 3:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Vincent P. Cieslewicz Jr., pastor of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, officiating.  Burial will be at Bridgeview Cemetery.
