M. Althea Weilacher

M. Althea Weilacher, 98, formerly of Owl's Nest and Yarnall Street in Kane, died late Friday evening, June 1, 2012 at Elk Haven Nursing Home in St. Marys.
Born Jan. 16, 1914 in Masten, she was the daughter of Domer R. and Beatrice A. Danley Derr. On Aug. 30, 1931 in Clarendon, she married Daniel E. Weilacher, who died in 1973.
Mrs. Weilacher was a nurse's aide for several years at the Kane Community Hospital, then later worked at Stackpole in Kane, also for several years.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Kane, a 4-H leader in the Highland Area, and was a volunteer for both the Friends' Memorial Public Library in Kane and the Kane Community Hospital, having logged 2,500 hours for the latter.
Surviving are two sons, LaRue Weilacher of Owl's Nest and Roger P. Weilacher of Pryor, Okla.; a daughter, Carolyn R. Yartz of Meadville; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death, besides her husband and parents, is a brother, Raymond L. Derr.
A funeral service will be held privately at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc. in Kane with the rev. William LaVelle, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Kane.
