Marion F. Self, 63, of Gainesville, Fla., formally of Mt. Jewett, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at the Haven Hospice House in Gainesville after a short but courageous battle with lung cancer.
She was born July 20, 1947 in Kane, a daughter to Bruce W. and Francis Holliday Slater.
She attended Smethport Jr./Sr. High School.
She loved to crochet gifts for family and friends and to sew custom garments and accessories. She also loved to watch Nancy Grace (CNN).
She was preceded in death by three brothers; Richard B. Slater, Marvin H. Slater, and Joseph Zwack.
She is survived by her husband Watson Self; two daughters, Maria Mika of Bradford, and Tanya (Cutis) McQuay of Gainesville, Fla.; two sons, Shannon (Jennifer) Boyd of Apopka, Fla. and Mathew (Casey) Self of San Diego, Calif.; two brothers, Bruce S. (Verna) Slater of Mt. Jewett , and Jim Church of Eldred; two sisters, Betty Lindsey of Kane, and Virginia Fish of Rew; five grandsons, Anthony Bonini, Dillon Mika, Tyler Boyd, Isaac Self, and Elijah Self; two granddaughters, Madison Boyd and Keimari McQuay; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial and celebration of her life will be held at the family’s convenience. Memorials if desired may be made to Haven Hospice House in Gainesville, Fla. or your local SPCA.
