Middle School girls basketball teams defeat Sheffield

Kane’s seventh- and eighth-grade girls’ basketball teams both won in their home openers on Wednesday. The seventh-grade girls won in the first game of the afternoon, defeating the young Lady Wolverines by a score of 14-10, followed by the eighth-graders' 32-3 drubbing of Sheffield.
Coach Mary Espin’s seventh-grade squad evened their record at 1-1 with the win. Trinity Clark led Kane with six points, followed by Amber Carlson with four. Gina Marconi and Mackenzie Witherell chipped in two points each for the Lady Wolves.
The eighth-grade team led 8-0 after the first quarter, increased the lead to 20-2 at the half and cruised to the vicory. Kiley Kinney was the leading scorer for the home team with 12 points. Camryn Cummings had six for Kane, while Lindsey Greto and Ashley Jordan both added four points. Rounding out the Lady Wolves scoring were Marcella Stanisch, McKenna Ennis and Alexis Lima-Lopez with two points each.
