Photo by Amy Geer – Pictured is one of the bears checked in at the Mt Jewett Fire Hall on Saturday, the first day of bear season in the commonwealth. This bear was shot by Dan Oakes of Bradford and had an estimated live weight of 152 pounds. As of 3 pm, only nine bears had been checked in by the officials in Mt Jewett. Pennsylvania hunters have two more days left to bag their bear, as the season concludes Tuesday.
