Mt. Jewett councilman is asked to resign

MT. JEWETT – Mt. Jewett Councilman Brett Morgan has been asked to resign due to alleged inappropriate remarks made on stage at the Mt. Jewett Swedish Festival last month.
Jim Troutman and Francis Auriemmo Jr. of Mt. Jewett both have called for the removal of Morgan from the borough government. They called for Morgan's resignation Tuesday at a meeting of the borough council.
According to Troutman, Morgan took the Center Street stage at the Swedish Festival on Friday, Aug. 10 and mocked his business-- Troutman Sanitation.
Morgan allegedly substituted his own lyrics in the song "Red Solo Cup" by country singer Toby Keith. Morgan allegedly called his version "Red Roll-off Truck."
Animosity between Morgan and Troutman has reportedly been brewing for years.

Shouldn't Brett be covered by freedom of speech? This is America right? OOO that's right I forgot its You have the right to freedom of speech as long as everyone else agrees with you. You cant go around firing someone for something they said outside of there job. You do not own there lives. You live in America. You have the right to say what you want and you have the right to offend as well as be offended! I understand if he was at work and this happened but he was not. This would be like someone some how hearing you tell your wife in your bedroom something about your boss. SO WHAT! You can not get fired for it! If Bret is fired it will just show another way officials are corrupted I can not imagine anyone agreeing with them. Rather you like Brett or not it is not justifiable to fire someone for something like this! Not to mention it was a song! I mean come on it! How grade school is Jim being? Grow up and do something in your community guys! Get over your egos and do your jobs!
