Erin Vassallo is full of zest as she begins her new job as executive director of the Kane Area Development Center (KADC).
This organization includes the Kane Chamber of Commerce, the Kane Area Industrial Development Corporation (KAIDC) and the Kane Area Revitalization Enterprise (KARE).
The bubbly young woman can hardly contain her zeal as she discusses her key role in promoting Kane business, industry, tourism and the overall quality of life.
âIâm very enthusiastic,â Vassallo said. âIâve always been full of energy. Iâm a very hard worker and determined to achieve our goals for the betterment of the Kane community.â
Vassallo, who began her duties earlier this week at the KADC office at 54 Fraley St. in Uptown Kane, replaces Melanie Clabaugh as the executive director. Clabaugh stepped down to assist with a family business.
Vassallo said she views her job as the âliaisonâ between the separate volunteer boards for the Chamber, KAIDC and KARE.
âIâm the facilitator for what theyâd like to see done,â Vassallo said. âIâm excited to be part of all three organizations.â
Vassallo said she has âtons of ideasâ for promoting the Kane community.
âI make lists,â Vassallo said. âI call them âmind maps.ââ
She said she realizes that many of her ideas are âpersonal dreamsâ that might not come to fruition. But she also believes that many of her goals are ârealistic.â
âAnything can happen if you want it to happen and make the effort,â she said. âYou canât get anywhere without being positive.â
Raised in Emporium, Vassallo is the daughter of Linda and Mike Songer and Rick Vassallo.
One of five children in her family, she is a 2006 graduate of Cameron County High School in Emporium.
While in high school, Vassallo was a member of the golf team and the Drama Club. She was an officer with the Student Council.
Vassallo, who was born in Atlanta, also was a leader with the Cameron County 4-H program.
