Norma J. Staaf Bertiaux

Norma J. Staaf Bertiaux, 81, formerly of Lincoln Street in Kane, died Friday, June 17, 2011 at Whispering Hills Care Center in Mount Vernon, Ohio.
Born Sept. 21, 1929 in Kane, she was the daughter of Michael L. and Esther E. Elmquist Kempf. On Oct. 14, 1950 in Kane, she married Vernon L. Staaf, who died in 1987. On Sept. 20, 2003 in Mount Vernon, she married Lawrence Bertiaux, who survives.
She graduated from Kane Area School in 1947 and from Butler County Memorial Hospital in 1950 as a registered nurse. She worked at Oneida (N.Y.) Hospital, Suburban General Hospital in Bellevue, and later at Reading Hospital and Medical Center in West Reading.
Mrs. Bertiaux was a member of the Tabor Ev. Lutheran Church in Kane.
Surviving, in addition to her husband of Mount Vernon, are a son, James M. Staaf of Hanover; two daughters, Kathleen Ann Tucker of Blossvale, N.Y. and Susan J. Staaf of Burlington, N.J.; a stepson, Terry Bertiaux of Columbus, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Gail Milligan of Mount Vernon; her brother, Bruce E. Kempf of Kane, plus four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death, besides her first husband and parents, is a daughter, Patricia, in infancy.
Friends may call at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc. in Kane on Tuesday from noon until 2 p.m., at which time a service will be held there with the rev. David Pflieger, chaplain of The Lutheran Home at Kane, officiating.  Interment will follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Kane.
