Randy Lawrence Nelson Jr., 25, of 7 Midnoon Dr., Martinsburg, died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011, in Martinsburg.
He was born May 31, 1986 in Pittsburgh to Randy Lawrence Sr. and Deborah Kay Beasley Nelson, of Martinsburg.
He was a 2004 graduate of Hedgesville High School, where he was involved in the drama club, show choir and soccer. He attended Blue Ridge Community College and received his bachelor's degree from Shepherd University and was working toward his masters degree at American Public University System in Charles Town.
He was the administrator to the dean at American Public University System Charles Town. He was a team leader for the World of Warcraft.
He recently received a Who's Who Award from Cambridge University for professional excellence. He recently completed his FEMA and Homeland Security Training.
He especially liked deep sea fishing with his cousin, Bubba.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandmother, Barbara "Giga" Beasley, of Martinsburg; paternal grandparents, Leonard and Louise Nelson, of Kane; sisters, Brittany D. Nelson and Kayley C. Nelson, both of Martinsburg; aunts and uncles, Denise and Todd Johnson, of Williamsport, Md., Edward "Woody" Beasley III and Wendy M. Cloud, of Martinsburg, Vickie Erickson, of Pittsburgh, Nancy Petridge, of Hampton, Va., Leonard Jr. and Deb Nelson, of Kane, and William and Nancy Nelson, of Meadville; and numerous cousins.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Edward W. Beasley Jr.; uncle, Terry V. Beasley; and aunt, Barbara A. Nelson.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011 in Williamsport, Maryland.
