Three local uniformed soldiers marched Monday with the VFW Ladies Auxiliary float in the Memorial Day parade in Kane. The soldiers, now home, received monthly packages from the Kane Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) while they were serving overseas. The soldiers include Tom Anderson (left), who served with the Army in Iraq; Cory Avenali (center), who served with the Army in Germany; and Zach Odonish (right), who served in Afghanistan with the Air Force. Three members of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary who are heading the Troop Package program include, left to right: Beverly Beane, Mitz Lindquist and Glenda Buonanducci. Mick Ritts, the youngster in the camouflage outfit, "drove" the Auxiliary float. The VFW currently is sending monthly packages to five other local soldiers who are serving overseas. Since 2010, the VFW has sent 132 packages to 15 different soldiers serving overseas.
