Lenny Anderson, commander of the Smethport Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 2497, speaks Tuesday at a ceremony to remember victims of the 9/11 terrorist attack. The VFW and American Legion in Smethport conducted the ceremony on the plaza in front of the McKean County Courthouse. Mel Bauer, a veteran volunteer firefighter from Saxonburg, Pa., paid tribute to the "first-responders" who died at the World Trade Center in New York City. The ceremony included a 21-gun salute and the playing of taps.
