Richard “Dick” C. Johnson

Richard “Dick” C. Johnson, 99, of 929 Burning Well Rd., Wilcox, died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at Pinecrest Manor in St. Marys.
Born Nov. 15, 1911, in Wilcox, he was a son of Peter and Freda Carlson Johnson.
Mr. Johnson served in the U.S. Army with the 4th Division during World War II.
He was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church and belonged to the Wilcox Masonic Lodge. He also was a member of the Wilcox American Legion and the Wilcox Senior Center.
He worked at the Wilcox Tannery until its closing and then retired from Warren State Hospital where he had later been employed.
Surviving are a daughter, Anita Mehalko of Wilcox; six grandchildren, Robert (Dennise) Mehalko, Richard (Tracey) Mehalko, Randy (Sara) Mehalko, Ryan Mehalko, Marsha (Thor) Lehman, all of Wilcox, and Sarah Mehalko of Natrona Heights; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Carl Johnson, Jarl “Pete” Johnson and Russel Johnson; and a sister, Delores Swanson.
Friends will be received on Monday from 6-9 p.m. at the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. in Kane, where a Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Wilcox with the Rev. Mark Cantaral officiating. Burial will be at Wilcox Cemetery.
