Robert McDivitt, 66, formerly of Johnsonburg, Kane and West Springfield, passed away Monday Jan. 24, 2011, at the home of his daughter in Torrington, Conn., surrounded by his loved ones.
Born July 22, 1944 in Ridgway, he was a son of Cleve Joseph and Theresa Irene Knopic McDivitt. He retired from the Laborers Union of Western Pennsylvania after being a member for 25 years. He also worked as a machinist for PHB Incorporated for 15 years retiring in 2009. He served as a private first class, E-3 Detachment Co. F in the 718th Maintaince Battilion in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany from May, 1961 to May of 1965 and was a member of the Army National Guard from July 17, 1982 to Nov. 20, 1986.
Surviving are two daughters, Lisa Ann (Todd) Whittemore, Torrington, Conn., and Jessica Lynn McDivitt of Kane; two sons, Robert (Kara) McDivitt of Cranberry Township and Jesse Lee McDivitt of Oakville, Conn; four grandchildren, Raymond McDivitt, Cody Whittemore, Gavin McDivitt and Kadence McDivitt; his ex-wife, Donna Haight of Kane; a sister, Mary Helen Dickinson; two half sisters, Borgia Maletto and Mary Papa; a half brother, James Ling Knopic; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a half brother, Robert James McDivitt.
Friends will be received Thursday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, 103 South Fraley St., Kane, where funeral and committal services will be held at noon Friday with the Rev. Philip Pinczewski, pastor of St. Callistus Roman Catholic Church in Kane officiating.
