Ronald J, Gruber

Ronald J, Gruber, 65, formerly of Sugar Grove, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at Snyder Memorial Home in Marienville. 
He was born in Jamestown, N.Y. on Dec. 21, 1945, a son of the late Erma (Hitchcock) and Ray  Gruber. He served in the U.S. Marines as a sergeant in the Vietnam War where he received the  National Defense Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnamese Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal. He was retired from his employment at Bush Industries.   
He was a lifetime member of the Sugar Grove First Presbyterian Church where he was an elder also. He enjoyed bowling, bird watching and farming. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Gruber, who died in 2001. 
Ronald is survived by a daughter, June Gruber, of Sugar Grove; a son, James Gruber, of Warren; five grandchildren, Ashley, Richard, Shyla, Jacob and Matigan Gruber; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.   In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Gruber; and a sister,  Janet Gruber. 
Friends are invited to call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the McKinney Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Inc. in Sugar Grove, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 8, with Rev. Nancy Page, pastor officiating. 
A graveside service will be held in Foster Cemetery in Lander with full military honors.
