Samuel Bobish, 84, of 403 Lindholm Rd., Mt. Jewett, died Tuesday evening, Feb. 21, 2012, at his residence after a lengthy illness.Â
He was born on Jan 28, 1928 in Pittsburgh, the son of the late Mike and Helen (Bosich) Bobish. He and Mildred, his wife of 57 years, were married on March 29, 1954 in Winchester, Va.
Mr. Bobish served in the Army during the Korean War and was as Purple Heart recipient. He retired from General Motors in Buffalo where he worked for 21 years, and prior to that he was employed as a supervisor for J & L Steel in Pittsburgh for 24 years.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, Samuel BobishÂ (Chris Paoletto) of Mt. Jewett; one daughter, Beth Ann (Jesse) Hallock of Lantz Corners; four grandchildren,Â Andrew Streicher, Amie Streicher, Sami Streicher and Druanna Streicher; and one sister, Sophia Jagnow of Somerset.Â
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Julia Dimino; and five brothers, John, George, Pete, Dan and Nick.
Friends will be received on Saturday, Feb. 25, from 2-4 p.m. at the Cummings Funeral Home in Mt. Jewett.Â A funeral service will immediately follow at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Craig Smith, pastor of the United Methodist Church, officiating.
The family asks that memorial donations be made to Boy Scout Troop 410 in Mt. Jewett or the Mt. Jewett Ambulance Association.
