A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Friday morning to mark the opening of the new playground at the Kane Elementary School. Principal Linda Lorenzo prepares to the cut the ribbon with the help of kindergarten students Ian Guras (left) and Sarah Stitt (right). Adjacent to Lorenzo are Dr. Maryann Anderson, superintendent of the Kane Area School District; and Stephanie Eckstrom, vice president of the Kane School Board. The back row includes, left to right: Catherine Stewart, treasurer of the school's Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO); Sherry Cook, secretary for the PTO; Allison Asel, representing Kane Lawn and Garden, the company that installed the playground equipment; Larry Lamping, a member of the Kane School Board; and John Rook, facilities manager for the school district. The PTO held numerous fundraisers to buy the playground equipment for the new elementary school that opened last year.
