Services for homebound outlined at Chamber forum

Many services are available in the home for the elderly, the disabled, the sick and others who require help with medical or hygiene needs.
Tiffany Winkler, private duty manager for home support services for Community Nurses, Inc., outlined some of these programs during a presentation Friday at a Kane Chamber of Commerce breakfast forum at the Kane Manor.
She said the “main purpose” the services permits residents to “stay in their own homes” rather than enter a hospital, nursing home or assisted living facility.
An affiliate of the Elk Regional Health Systems, the St. Marys-based Community Nurses is one of several area agencies that provide a variety of services to the homebound.
Winkler said the agency offers such “non-medical support services” as bathing assistance, hair care, mouth care, shaving, dressing assistance with walking and feeding.
“Home management” services provided by the agency include preparing and serving meals, making beds, light cleaning, dishwashing, trash removal, laundry and grocery shopping.
