William Hulings (left), a 2012 graduate of Kane Area High School, is the recipient of the Sgt. Jeffrey A. Palmer Memorial Scholarship. Dr. Todd A. Palmer (right), brother of the Kane soldier who died in 1992 at the age of 21, presented the $1,000 scholarship at commencement. Samuel Palmer (front left), 8-year-old nephew of the soldier, accompanied his father to the ceremony. This is the 20th anniversary of the Palmer Scholarship, which includes a plaque. A permanent tribute to Sgt. Palmer is located in the hallway just outside the high school auditorium entrance.
