On a less than suitable day for a track meet the Kane Lady Wolves put together one of the best team performances of the year by bringing home a second place trophy at the Kane Invitational Track Meet this past Saturday.
Kane only won one event on the day but had some great team showings in several events.
"This young team continues to achieve great things both on the track and in the field with our second place finish in AA schools," said Kane head coach Jim Sirianni.
Dawn Saquin had her best race of the year in the 300 hurdles with a PR time of 49.24. That is a great time considering the rain and cold that was with us all day. She finished third in the event. She, along with Kayla Kerner, placed in a very fast 100m race. Dawn took fifth with a time of 13.53 and Kayla sixth at 13.83.
Kristen Boyer had a PR in the 1600m run at 5:46.76. Kristen is only a freshman and the coaching staff feels that she is going to be a great distance runner for them for the next three years. She took sixth in the event.
The heart and soul of our track team this year are the three relays and all three had very good days. The 4x100 relay of Kayla Kerner, Kelsey Johnson, Chanda Paup and Audrey Perry took fourth with a time of 54.41. The 4x400 relay of Johnson, Paup, Perry and Saquin had a great time of 4:18.53 good for second place. The 4x800 relay team of Johnson, Perry, Paup and Maria Newton took third with a time of 10:37.99. Chanda Paup just came back from her senior trip to Washington D.C. with tired legs but had good times in all three relays.
