Teresa G. Zampogna, 86, of Erie and formerly of Kane, died Wednesday morning July 18, 2012 at Presque Isle Rehabilitation and NursingÂ Center following a lengthy illness.
A resident of Erie most of her life she was born in Westline on Nov. 3, 1925 a daughter of the late Guiseppie and Theresa Costerolla Zampogna.
Teresa was a graduate of Kane High School and went on to beautician school. She worked as a beautician and most recently as a social worker with St. Martin Center for 20 years before retirement. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and a former member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she served as Sacrastine and Eucharistic Minister. She enjoyed her Saturday morning breakfast club, traveling, and especially spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Josephine Manfredi and Mary Chiesa; five brothers, Anthony and his wife Margeret, Harry and his wife Helen, Dominic and his wife Virginia, Michael, and Frederick Zampogna.
Survivors include two sisters, Angie McCandless and her husband John of Kane, and M. Donna Mann and her husband David of Erie; one brother, Joseph Zampogna and his wife Janice of Clarence Township, N.Y.; two sisters-in-law, Eileen Zampogna of Arizona and Margie Zampogna of Kane; two brothers-in-law, Melvin Chiesa of St. Marys, and Gino Manfredi of Cleveland; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to a prayer service there on Saturday morning at 9:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
