Thelma L. Johnson

Thelma L. Johnson, 80, of 290 Burdick Lane, Kane, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, Fayetteville, N.C.
Thelma was born in Commodore, PA, on Nov. 14, 1931, the daughter of the late Mead and Lola Ludwig. Thelma graduated from Johnstown Central High School in the class of 1949. She was a member of Tabor Lutheran Church where she served in many capacities including Sunday School Teacher, Funeral Committee, Lucia Committee and Lydia Circle.
Thelma was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed watching the numerous activities of her grandchildren, the wildlife that appeared in the fields surrounding her West Kane home and walking on the beach in Florida. 
She is survived by her seven children, her son Norman Johnson, and wife, Nancy, of Pittsburgh; her daughter Charlene Burgess, and husband, Brent, of Bradford; her son Daniel, and wife, Phyllis, of Chicago, Ill.; her son Matthew, and wife, Ruth, of Bellmore, N.Y.; her daughter Michele Anderson, and husband David, of Mansfield, Ohio; her daughter Denise Bean, and husband, Tim, of Bradford; and her daughter Kelly Harding, and husband, Rob, of Fayetteville, N.C. and her sister, Margaret (Peggy) Thayer and husband Raymond (Bud) of Tonowanda, N.Y.; four sister-in-laws, Rose (Goss) Ludwig, of Cincinnati, Ohio; Betty (Erickson)  Ludwig, of Ebensburg, Mary Jane (Stauffer) Johnson, of Fairfax, Va.; Marjorie (Johnson) Manfredo, and husband Louis (Skip), of Lewes, Del.; and brother-in-law Richard Johnson, of Kane as well as 18 grandchildren Aron Thimlar, of Austintown, Ohio; Eric Thimlar, and Cordelia, of Bradford; Sarah Fuoco, and husband, Joe, of Bradford; Rebekah Thimlar, of Tuscon, Ariz.; Kevin Johnson, of Aurora, Ill.; Brittni and Myriah Wiseman, Mary, Hannah and Ben Bean of Bradford; Holly and Erica Johnson, of Pittsburgh, James and Bryce Anderson, of Mansfield, Ohio; Alyssa and Lauryn Harding, of Fayetteville, N.C.; and Avery and Ashley Johnson, of Bellmore, N.Y.; one great-grandchild, Gage Thimlar of Austintown, Ohio and one step-grandson, Kyle Burgess, of Bradford.
In addition to her parents, Thelma was preceded in death in 1984, by her husband, Norman A. Johnson, whom she married on June 9, 1955; her grandson Ian Thimlar in 2000; her sister Naomi in 2007; and her brothers, Wesley in 2008, and Arthur in 2012.
A memorial service will be held at Cummings Funeral Home, Inc., 151 Greeves Street, Kane on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 11:30 a.m. with the Reverend Donald Costlow, officiating.
