A Veterans pinning ceremony was held by Community Nurses Hospice Program and The Lutheran Home at Kane. Community Nurses Inc., is an active partner in the “We Honor Veterans Program,” which is a national awareness campaign developed by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and the Department of Veteran Affairs.
The event was held on Flag Day, June 14. There are a total of 28 Veterans at The Lutheran Home. Small personal flags were donated by the Ladies VFW Auxiliary of Kane and presented to the Veterans. Some veterans from the VFW attended the ceremony. Flag pins were donated and pinned on each Veteran by Community Nurses, while patriotic music played in the background. Families were invited to attend as well.
A prayer was said by Pastor Pflieger. To end the program, everyone viewed an internet video that was performed by the third graders of Tussing Elementary Colonial Heights, Virginia. This program was hosted by the Activities Department.
