By Dick Coleman Special to The Kane Republican Monday was another successful day in the long history of American Red Cross Bloodmobiles in the Kane area. The goal for the six-hour Bloodmobile, in spacious Bartlett Hall of First United Methodist Church in Kane, was to collect 30 full units of blood between 11:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Volunteer Judith M. Haight of Ludlow, in charge of the team of volunteers, said a total of 35 people volunteered to donate blood. However, two of those people were rejected for health reasons and one person could not donate a full unit of blood. Thirty-two people donated full units of blood, two units above the quota. The Bloodmobile was staffed by a team of nurses and technicians from the Buffalo, N.Y. Blood Center. Sandwich spreads were furnished by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. With his donation, one donor, James McCloskey of Kane has now donated a total of 14 gallons of blood over a period of many years. Two people donated blood to the Red Cross for the first time, Robert Hearst V and Karen Ryding, both of Kane. The team of volunteers, in addition to Mrs. Haight, included: Registrars Judy Lockwood, Nancy Morgan, Mary Thompson and Martha Kulka. Canteen/kitchen workers Betty Gilmore, Kay Keyser, Linda Gibson, Marion Larson, Dortha Wilt, Karen Ryding and Josephine Lauer. Custodians Jack Ryding, Ron Haight, Ed Parana, Ray Maze, Wayne Chapman, John Chapman, Bob James, John O'Donish, Jack Hedlund and Adam O'Donish.
