Nora Yasurek and Becky Davidson ran Monday's Hamilton Township Board of
Supervisor's Meeting.
LUDLOW – Hamilton Board of Supervisors planned a meeting to discuss the
township’s budget and the Christmas lighting competition. A new
housekeeper is needed for the township building as well.

A tentative budget meeting was set for Nov. 16, at 9 a.m. The meeting at
the township building will discuss the township’s budget plan for 2010.
Anyone is welcome to attend.

The Christmas lighting competition will begin in December. Participants
should have their lights up near the beginning of the month. They can sign
up by contacting Becky Davidson, the board’s secretary and treasurer, by
calling the township building at (814) 945-6913.

Contest participants must be located within Hamilton Township. Cash prizes
are given to the winners. Judging will take place before Christmas. Nora
Yasurek, vice chairwoman of the board, is going to begin organizing and
selecting judges for the contest this month.

Also, Mitsy Lindquist turned in her keys after cleaning the township
building for the last time this month. The township supervisors will be
accepting applications for a new cleaning person.  The building needs
cleaned once every two weeks.

Yasurek acted as chairwoman for the meeting since Brain Bastow, chairman
of the board, was unable to attend. Yasurek and Davidson ran the meeting.
Other topics   at the meeting, included:

*a generous donation of $100 was given by an anonymous donor for an
after-school program on Wednesdays at the township building. The program
is sponsored by the area’s two local churches.

* a temporary road crew applicant for snow plowing on winter roads will be
interviewed this month.

* a permit received by the Department of Environmental Protection will be
signed. The permit was a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System
for treated sewage at the Kiasutha Campgrounds.

* a check from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation was received
from the 2010 State Liquid Fuels Stimulus. The check will be for
$28,724.77, which is down 1,130.22 from last year’s check.

The supervisors also discussed the monthly reports, which include:

*the road crew report. The road crew has been busy vacuuming up leaves
throughout the township. They have also patched road, cleaned ditches and
trimmed berms and fixed and maintained equipment.

* the sewage system report.  Several manholes within the township have
been checked. There are a few more that the sewage workers would like to
look at before the weather gets bad.

* the fire department report. Five drills were practiced in October with
23 volunteer fire fighters. The fire department is encouraging men and
women to join. The meetings are on the second Monday of each month.

*EMC and building reports were not available.
