A Kane man was taken to the McKean County Jail near Smethport after he was charged Friday with burglary and criminal trespass, both felonies. Dale Johnathen Moore, 29, of 17 S. Tionesta Ave., was arraigned by District Judge Rich Luther of Bradford, who set bail at $30,000. Moore is due to return to district court in Kane on Dec. 7 for a preliminary hearing. Kane Police Officer Derrick Snyder placed the charges against Moore after responding to a “burglary in progress” call at 10:15 p.m. last Friday at the Jennifer Abplanalp residence at 514 Greeves St. The defendant allegedly “kicked in the back door” at the residence and “struggled” with Abplanalp and her sister, Megan Brinkley, according to police. The defendant allegedly attempted to get a cell phone from Abplanalp, according to court documents. “The victim stated that there was a physical altercation,” court records show. The defendant allegedly grabbed Abplanalp’s arms during the struggle, court documents indicate. Police Officer Snyder and Kane Police Officer Catrina Retterer located the defendant at his residence on Tionesta Avenue. Police took Moore to the borough police station and later to the district judge’s office for arraignment. In addition to burglary and criminal trespass, Moore is charged with loitering or prowling at night and harassment.
