Stephanie Eckstrom (right) has been re-elected as president of the Kane School Board. Ken Kane (left), a 24-year member of the school board and a past president, has been elected vice president. The school board elected officers Tuesday at its annual reorganizational meeting at the middle school auditorium.
Stephanie Eckstrom has been re-elected as president of the Kane School Board.
“It’s an honor and an absolute privilege,” Eckstrom said after the nine-member volunteer school board held its annual reorganizational meeting Tuesday at the middle school auditorium.
“I look forward to another year to advance our school district,” Eckstrom said. A Mt. Jewett resident, Eckstrom is the lone woman on the board. She was re-elected last month to another four-year term on the board.
In other business at the 23-minute meeting, the board elected Ken Kane as vice president of the school board. Kane has served on the board for 24 years and is a past president.
As well as serving as board president, Eckstrom will continue as the board’s liaison with the Pennsylvania School Boards Association (PSBA).
Voters last month also re-elected Larry Lamping, Gary Ziegler and Ed Kocjancic Jr. to four-year terms on the school board. The four re-elected board members took their oaths of office Tuesday.
As the reorganizational meeting began, the board appointed member Mark Paup to serve as temporary president. His only duty was to ask for nominees for president. Eckstrom ran unopposed. Once she was elected, she moved back into the president’s seat to conduct the balance of the meeting.
The reorganizational meeting was the first in Kane for Dr. Maryann Anderson, the new superintendent of Kane schools.
School board members will be among those attending tonight’s induction of members of the National Honor Society. The ceremony, preceded by a dinner with parents of the honor students, will begin at 6 o’clock at Olmsted Manor in Ludlow.
