Virginia Jean Wirt was surrounded by her family and loved ones when she was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010. She was buried at laurel land in Fort Worth, Texas. Jean was born on November 7, 1924 in Kane to Rachel Ellen and John Allen Rockwell. She was married to La Verne Wirt in 1943 and together moved to Texas in 1951. She loved Kane, and kept up with her hometown through the local newspaper and is still a subscriber to this day. Jean’s most rewarding passions, outside of her family, was in the area of Public Relations for the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post 8911, Ft. Worth, where she held many positions. Jean was a past president of District 21. She had 46 years of active volunteer service. Jean had a big heart for our military service men and women and for underprivileged children. Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, La Verne Wirt. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Samer, Sherry Bacon and Mary Dacus and husband Randy; her sisters, Madge Rockwell Spivey and husband Vernon, Mary Ellen Carlson, Alice Betsy Stone and husband W.J., her brothers, John Rockwell and wife Carolyn, Richard Carlson, Walter Rockwell and wife Renee; her grandchildren, Lynn, Connie, April, Michelle and Michael; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
