Teachers and administrators in the Kane Area School District are gearing for this year’s round of testing under the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA).
The results of the tests will show whether Kane students in tested grade levels are proficient in math, reading, writing and science.
Results of the PSSA tests also will determine whether Kane schools are making  “annual yearly progress” (AYP) under the federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) program.
The Kane Area School District and its three schools now carry AYP status. AYP achievement awards were presented to school principals Thursday at the meeting of the Kane School Board.
The PSSA tests this year are scheduled in April. Results usually aren’t known until July or August.
