It will be a busy summer for Christina Cecchetti, who has been crowned as this year’s Miss Kane High. She’ll be taking part in virtually every festival and parade and in August will compete for the title of Miss McKean County at the McKean County Fair. The winner of the county “queen” competition represents McKean County at the Pennsylvania State Fair. “I’m looking forward to all the events,” Cecchetti said with a broad smile. “I’ll have the opportunity to meet a ton of new people. I’m really excited.” The Junior Class at Kane Area High School selects one of members as Miss Kane High. Tara Gordon, the 2009 Miss Kane High, is now a senior at the high school. Based on her experience last year, she knows what lies ahead this summer for the new Miss Kane High. “It’s a very busy and eventful time,” Gordon said in looking back on her activities last summer as Miss Kane High. “I met a lot of great people.” Gordon, the daughter of Lori and Steve Gordon of Kane, said the activities associated with her reign as Miss Kane High are “something I’ll always remember.” A dancer with Studio K in Kane, Gordon plans to attend Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) after graduating from high school in June. She plans to major in respiratory therapy. Cecchetti is the daughter of Cindy and Mike Cecchetti of 314 Sedgwick St., Kane. Her older brother, Alan serves in the U.S. Navy. Her younger sister, Jennifer is a fifth-grader at the Chestnut Street Elementary School in Kane. For the talent portion of the competition at the McKean County Fair, Cecchetti plans to sing “So Small,” which was a “number one hit” recorded by country singer Carrie Underwood. A member of the Student Council at Kane High School, Cecchetti is a varsity cheerleader and has won an individual award for cheerleading. She is a member of the Choraliers at Kane High and sang the National Anthem for a recent cheerleading competition at the school. Studying in the “honors program” at Kane High, Cecchetti said she hopes to attend Clarion University after she graduates in June 2011. She is “undecided” on a college major. Cecchetti said she is “thrilled” and “honored” to have the title of Miss Kane High and to be able to represent Kane in the McKean County Fair “queen” competition. “I think Christina will do a great job,” Gordon said.
