Commissioners approved payment of Liquid Fuels Fund money to Lewis Run Borough and Lafayette Township for projects completed in 2008, and accepted Liquid Fuels Funds applications from Annin and Hamlin Townships. Also approved were three contracts with Karpinski’s Office Systems for maintenance on copiers and fax machines. Hamilton Township was authorized to use $1,248.99 left over from its 2004 Community Development Block Grant to assist with its 2007 CBDG funding for a thermal imaging camera for the Ludlow Fire Department. Commissioners approved the advertising of approval of distribution of federal funds received from timber sales in the Allegheny National Forest amounted to $262,377, but Chairman of Commissioners Joe DeMott said the total of the requests was more than $400,000. That meant that most of the organizations that requested money got only a portion of what they had asked for. Three were funded fully: $25,944 went to the 911 Center, $26,000 to the McKean County Conservation District and $62,993 to Penn State Extension Education. The Allegheny National Forest Vacation Bureau got $66,773. Corydon Township Volunteer Fire Department will get $16,901; McKean County Biodynamics, $10,0000, and $33,765 will go the McKean County Sheriff’s Dive and Rescue team, and the McKean County Historic Society will receive $10,000. Money from the timber sales must be distributed to municipalities or organizations that have a connection with the ANF.
