Wetmore Township plans to file an application for a state grant for work on Reigel Road.
By Ted Lutz Republican Staff Wetmore Township plans to file an application for a state grant for work on Reigel Road. The application will be filed with the McKean County Conservation District by March 27. The grant is available under the Pennsylvania State Conservation Commission's Dirt and Gravel Road Program. This program is designed to fund "environmentally sound maintenance" of unpaved roads which have been identified as sources of dust and sediment pollution. The county Conservation District told Wetmore Township in a letter that it would "review and rank the application and reward funding based upon written priorities." The Wetmore Township Board of Supervisors, acting at its meeting Tuesday, agree to file the application for work on Reigel Road. In other business, the supervisors: •Accepted low bids from New Enterprise, Pa. Stone and Lime for various types of road materials. The supervisors plan to seek separate bids for trucking the materials to the township storage site behind the township building on Spring Street. •Agreed to again seek bids for fuel requirements. No formal bids were received Tuesday. •Received notice that the county Planning Commission is considering approval of a one-lot subdivision of John and Gertrude Gatewood property in the vicinity of Route 6. Plans call for the .53-acre tract to be conveyed to an adjoining property owner. The supervisors did not file objections to the proposed subdivision. •Agreed to seek bids in May for the sale of the township's 1994 Dodge pickup truck. The minimum price was set at $1,000. The township has purchased a 2009 truck to replace the one that's being sold to the highest bidder. •Agreed to again purchase road salt under a state contract for multiple municipalities. •Recessed the meeting at 8:29 p.m. and agreed to continue the public session at 6 p.m. next Wednesday, March 11. At that time, the supervisors plan to complete a questionnaire related to compliance with the National Incident Management System (NIMS).
