By Ted Lutz Republican Staff No one was injured Monday when a log-skidder fell from a flatbed tailer and flipped over on Route 66 near the base of the James City hill south of Kane. State Police said Andy Buehler of Penn Mountain Logging on Montmorenci Road, Ridgway, was traveling north on Route 66 in a truck that was pulling a trailer carrying the huge log-skidder. When a rear tire blew out, the trailer went out-of-control and the log-skidder rolled off on its side and toppled over guardrails on the east side of the road, police said. The swaying trailer caused the truck driven by Buehler to cross the center line and impact the guardrail on the west side of the highway, police said. Buehler was not injured, police said. The Highland Volunteer Fire Department responded to the call. Kane Fire Police helped with traffic control. One-lane traffic was maintained for several hours at the accident scene. State Police Troopers Ted Race and Doug Kramer responded to the scene along with Mike Holtz, a Kane resident who is a representative of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT). The guardrails on both sides of the highway sustained severe damage. Heavy equipment was brought into to lift the log-skidder Monday, but the efforts failed and the machine was left at the scene along the guardrails overnight. Workers returned Tuesday and finally were able to move the log-skidder.
